BACHELOR IN HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINE & SURGERY (B.H.M.S.)
The Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College offers BACHELOR'S COURSE IN HOMOEOPAHTIC MEDICINE AND SURGERY (B.H.M.S.). This course is a full time course of five and a half year duration which includes a compulsory internship of one year duration. The medium of instruction is English. The college is affiliated with the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan (Gujarat) for its B.H.M.S. Course.
The course is divided into four and a half years. At the end of each year the University conducts annual examination. The exams include theory papers and oral & practical examinations. The minimum score for passing in each exam is 50%. Students who pass in all the subjects move to the next year. In addition to the university exams, the college conducts periodic terminal and preliminary exams to evaluate the students' abilities. The results of such exams are also conveyed to the parents of the concerned student.
The first year is of one and a half year. The subjects of study are, Human Anatomy, Physiology with Biochemistry, Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Homoeopathic Philosophy and Organon of Medicine & Homoeopathic MateriaMedica. At the end of 18 months the university conducts Theory as well as Practical and Oral examinations.
The second year consists of one year duration. The subjects of study are Pathology and Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Homoeopathic Philosophy and Organon of Medicine & Homoeopathic MateriaMedica.
The third year is again of one year duration. The subjects include Surgery and Homoeopathic Therapeutics, Obstetrics - Gynaecology and Homoeopathic Therapeutics, Homoeopathic Philosophy and Organon of Medicine & Homoeopathic MateriaMedica.
The final year of study is of one year duration which includes Practice of Medicine and Homoeopathic Therapeutics, Preventive and Social Medicine, Homoeopathic Repertory and Case Taking, Homoeopathic Philosophy and Organon of Medicine & Homoeopathic MateriaMedica.
The last three years of study also include clinical training in various subjects. For this, the college provides hospital training at the Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College &Hospital in the campus. Various prominent nursing homes are also attached with the college for the clinical training purpose.
The students passing in the final year examination are supposed to undergo one year compulsory internship at the Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College &Hospital and other centers. This internship exposes the internee to various clinical conditions and prepare them for the tough job of medical profession. This one year duration also provides them the much needed exposure and experience in the field of practical Homoeopathy.
M.D. (HOM.)
DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (HOMOEOPATHY) M.D.(HOM)
The Post graduate course M.D (Hom.) is a regular and 3 years full time course offered by Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital which is affiliated to North Gujarat University, Patan,Gujarat.
The course is divided into 2 parts : PART I & PART II
This course is offered in 5 subjects namely:
1) Homoeopathic Materia Medica.
2) Organon of Medicine and Homoeopathic Philosophy.
3) Homoeopathic Repertory and Case Taking.
4) Paediatrics.
5) Practice of Medicine.
Presently the admission intake capacity is 24 students per academic year, 6 students in each of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine and Homoeopathic Philosophy, Homoeopathic Repertory and Case Taking and 3 students in Paediatrics and Practice of Medicine.
There is provision of computer lab and each and every student and staff member has been provided with free internet facility. All computers are connected with LAN connection and each and every student has been allotted independent computer with E-library facility and Homoeopathic software's which are also linked with Hospital IPD and OPD.
Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital apart from its own OPD and IPD running 10 peripheral centers and mobile OPD's where P.G. students are getting assess to the patients during their P.G. course.
P.G. department library has subscribed renowned national and International journals. Students and staff can assess them in the library. Audio visual facilities are provided with all modern teaching technology equipment's like LCD projector. Separate Seminar/Conference room is provided for PG students where regularly homoeopathic and allied subject seminars are organized from time to time by inviting specialized resource persons from different parts of the country.
P.G. department in collaboration with other departments and hospital is regularly participating in Health education programs, free school health check-up programs, red ribbon club programs from time to time. Each P.G. department is fully equipped with informative charts and study material/ready reference material.
The P.G. department has acquired best furniture and infrastructure facility to the P.G.students, each and every student has been provided locker facility to keep their valuable articles. Separate common rooms are provided to male and female students. Separate washrooms are provided for all students and staff members.
Each and every PG student has been posted roaster wise in College, Hospital, IPD, OPD and peripheral centers. Regularly group discussion, panel discussion, case discussion, book review and seminars are organized in every week with PG students and staff members. In PG department as per the requirement of the Central Council of Homoeopathy, separate duly qualified and excellent teaching and non-teaching staff has been appointed.P.G. Students are regularly deputed to take lectures in U.G. departments, so that their communication skill get improved.
